To centralize or to decentralize, that is the question!

LIVE WEBINAR | October 28, 2026 | This webinar explores the clinical, operational, and financial considerations of centralizing versus decentralizing molecular infectious disease testing, including impacts on turnaround time, workflow, diagnostic performance, and patient care. (1 credit)

Summary

Date: October 28, 2026 | 1:00 PM EST / 12:00 PM CST
Duration:
 1 Hour

Presenter: Dr. Kenneth Gavina, Ph.D., D(ABMM), SM(ASCP)
Sponsor: ZeptoMetrix
Cost: Free

As molecular tools continue to evolve and become the gold standard methodology in the clinical lab, the landscape of where infectious disease testing should be performed becomes blurred and challenging. This webinar will explore the clinical, operational, and financial considerations of centralizing versus decentralizing molecular testing for infectious diseases. Topics will include turnaround time, test utilization, laboratory workflow, and the impact of testing location on diagnostic performance and patient care.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe advantages and disadvantages of centralized vs. decentralized molecular testing.
  • Review regulatory and QC challenges with decentralized testing.
  • Discuss potential clinical utility, improved patient outcomes, and health-system value of decentralized testing.
