Advances in Candida Vaginitis: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Management Considerations

LIVE WEBINAR | December 15, 2026 | This webinar explores the diagnosis, treatment, and management of Candida vaginitis, including recurrent infections and co-infections, while highlighting current clinical guidelines and the role of laboratory testing in improving patient outcomes.(1 credit)

Summary

Candida vaginitis (CV), commonly referred to as vulvovaginal candidiasis, is one of the most frequently encountered causes of vaginitis in clinical practice, affecting millions of women worldwide each year. While many cases respond to standard antifungal therapy, recurrent disease, overlapping symptoms, and the presence of co-infections can complicate diagnosis and management. As diagnostic technologies continue to evolve, laboratories play an increasingly important role in supporting accurate identification of vaginitis etiologies and informing patient care.

In this educational webinar, Dr. Christina Muzny, a recognized expert in vaginal infections and women’s health, will provide a comprehensive review of the current landscape of Candida vaginitis. Participants will gain practical insights into the epidemiology and burden of disease, including the clinical and quality-of-life implications associated with both acute and recurrent infections.

The session will review the clinical presentation of Candida vaginitis and discuss its relationship with sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and other vaginal infections commonly encountered in clinical practice. Attendees will receive an evidence-based overview of available treatment options and current guideline recommendations, including management considerations when Candida vaginitis occurs in the presence of co-infections.

Additional topics will include approaches to recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis, long-term management strategies, and current recommendations regarding partner management. The webinar will also provide an overview of available diagnostic approaches, highlighting the strengths and limitations of laboratory-based testing methods and their role in supporting accurate diagnosis, differentiation from other causes of vaginitis, and appropriate treatment selection.

Key takeaways include:

  • Understanding the epidemiology and clinical burden of Candida vaginitis
  • Recognizing the clinical presentation of CV and its associations with STIs and co-infections
  • Applying current guideline-recommended treatment approaches for Candida vaginitis, including co-infections
  • Evaluating management strategies for recurrent Candida vaginitis and partner management
  • Comparing available diagnostic approaches and understanding the role of laboratory testing in patient management

Whether you are a laboratory professional, clinician, or healthcare practitioner involved in women’s health, this webinar will provide practical, evidence-based insights into the diagnosis and management of Candida vaginitis, with a focus on how laboratory testing can support informed clinical decision-making.

Register today to enhance your understanding of Candida vaginitis and the evolving role of diagnostics in patient care.
